Ain't No Rest for the Wicked

I need some serious help because i should be heading upstairs but instead I'm sitting back down to talk about my friend Jared.

Jared moved here at the end of fifth grade. Moved into Stonebridge after living in Hawthorne. When he moved to the neighborhood my mom told me to go and welcome him. I wanted no part of being a one man welcome wagon. But I eventually sucked it up and headed up to his house.

Probably one of the best decisions I ever made. I can say that Jared is one of my best friends in the world, him and Graz are tied for first. But Jared and my friendship is such a unique one.

Neither of us drink or smoke. Instead we sit in his basement and play Star wars Battlefront 2 on Xbox. We both are obsessed with backyard sports; we did operate a fully functioning wiffleball league one summer with a website and statistics. We also had an "underground" ping pong league in my basement. We would create two man teams of celebrities, random people from our actual lives, and historical figures and battle it out for the IPPL championship. I used to send Jared up to his with care packages of sweets. You see the Dr.'s DiSanti used to be real sugar Nazis. Jared would come down to my house an head straight for the drawer where we kept the cookies and pop tarts. Draino loves him some pop tarts. He also will always go with Jordan, game six.

Most of my fondest memories from early adolescence are ones spent with Jared. From backyard football(the hit heard round the world on Pat Cannon), to incredible street hockey match ups, to Madden in his basement where Mike Vick would single-handedly beat Jared every time(trust me he cried conspiracy, but it was just great strategy by me.) We have more inside jokes than most people. (We roll in the baby blues)

I guess the point of this is to say how much I love the kid. I do love him, and I hope he knows it. I hope he plans on keeping me in his life as long as I plan on keeping him in mine. while I could go on for hours more about my best friend I think this is enough for now. I'll leave you with one more thing Jared and I always do.

Any time he drops me off at my house he pulls around the cul-de-sac and puts his car into neutral. He proceeds to rev his engine and we reenact th scene from Remember the Titans where gary pulls up to red light and a fan screams, "That;s you Gary!! That's you!!!" (We leave out the accident part obviously)

That always puts a smile on my face.

If and when you read this, just know I love ya Jack.
